Learning, Teaching and Assessment

At the beginning of 2026, all of the pupils and staff at Balmedie considered what makes great learning, teaching and assessment at our school at Nursery.  Through a range of staff meetings, pupil consultations and assemblies, we were able to agree a shared understanding of “Why” we focus on great learning and teaching, “How” we strive to make it happen at Balmedie, and “What” it looks like in practice.

We are now ready to share our new Position Papers on High Quality, Learning, Teaching and Assessment and they are available to view below.  On this page, you will find both the adult and child friendly versions of the paper.  We are in the process of developing an even more simplified version that includes the relevant visuals to support those with communication barriers.
